Highlights

steins-gate-0-07-3

Steins;Gate 0 pulled a completely meta move and included a game changing end credits scene. This followed a really intense episode- one in which you see Okabe taking full advantage of his time travel knowledge. And of course we had more mind aching questions added to the mix. I have full confidence that Steins;Gate 0 will give us a satisfying answer to those questions.

Bungo Stray Dogs returned with an OVA that was quite entertaining in my opinion. We get a story which centers around Doppo and a day which certainly doesn’t go as he planned. Those of you expecting a major plot reveal or hint at 2nd season will be disappointed but if you are looking for a fun and entertaining ride, check out this OVA.

baka & test

I also started a couple of new series this week. The first being Baka and Test. I had checked out the first episode before this and enjoyed it- however time got away from me and I never continued it until now. I must say that the series is just plain hilarious and over the top in the early episodes. And I am perfectly fine with that as sometimes a ridiculous series is just what the doctor ordered. You just can’t help but root for this group of lovable idiots. Certainly going to keep watching this series.

fumouffu 1

On that same vein, I also started Full Metal Panic? Fumouffu and it is a good as advertised. The comedy bits with Sousuke and Chidori are one of the highlights of the main series and to see that expanded to whole episodes is incredibly awesome. The school setting also really works well here allowing the introduction of new characters to play off of our main cast.  Of course I am watching the dubbed version and the comedic delivery of the cast is amazing. The series takes a simple element from the main series and runs with it. The first few episodes were simply laugh out loud funny.

Aggret_

Aggretsuko showed up in my Netflix recommendations and on a whim I decided to get this a go (yes I was on a comedy kick this week for life reasons). The first episode was actually a lot better than I thought. Don’t let the cute character designs fool you, there are mature jokes in the series and it is clearly aimed more at adults (in a non risky kind of way. I appreciated the workplace humor as would anyone who has ever had a full time job. I intend to keep watching this series for sure.

I also got the chance to see the Ghibli Film, Porco Rosso last week for the first time. I really enjoyed the film. I loved the classic film feel to the story. Studio Ghibli doesn’t disappoint and they didn’t with this film. I really enjoy that they are doing the Ghibli fest in theaters. Not only is seing classic films on the big screen fun but it allows the opportunity to experience  more of what the studio has to offer.

Wotakoi delivered another fun episode this week. The series does an amazing job showing the characters in their element and this week it was with an online game. It was cute and fun bit to include.I continue to be in love with the show and will be really bummed when it ends. I’ve got to start reading the manga.

hitomi

Finally, if you haven’t checked out Hinamatsuri yet- my question is why? This series is amazing and way better that I think anyone thought it would be, This week was another hilarious episode. Hitomi, Hina, and Anzu continue to make the case that they are all best girl material. The scenes with Hitomi and the bar have been gold from the start and this week, the hilarity continues

Disappointments

The only thing that I am disappointed about is that I didn’t have time to watch everything on my to watch list- looking at you Comic Girls.

Other Thoughts

The community seemed split on the latest episode of Darling in the Franxx, some loved it and others hated it. I will say that i fell somewhere in the middle. I am glad we got the exposition that had been due for some time. Was it the best episode of the series? No. Was it complete trash? Absolutely not. While it wasn’t my favorite episode, I still stand by the series and appreciate the effort that has been put into the series so far.

Yes, I am watching Hunter x Hunter..the dub on Toonami in fact. I cannot say enough good things about this series.  I have been hooked since episode 1 and certainly been rewarded for my time.

There were so many great episodes this week that to discuss them all would make for an insanely long post…and I am trying to avoid it. let’s just say everything on the list was certainly worth my time.

So that’s it- another week has been completed and another round of anime episodes has been watched. What did you enjoy from last week?
