Greetings! Another week has come and gone and we are one week closer to the end of the Spring season. A couple of series have already ended with the finale of more series coming in the upcoming weeks. While the series continue to be good, it is sad to see the end on the horizon. This has been easily one of the best seasons of anime since I have started watching regularly. I also was able to watch everything that I wanted to watch on the day it premiered for the 1st time in a while and it felt great. Here is my list for last week!

Highlights

comic girls 1

Comic Girls ended with an emotional bang with it’s final episode. Having to see the girls split up and leave the dorm was really heartbreaking especially at a time when Kaos was fighting a tough battle. It was great to see her character arc get the conclusion that it did. The series was really about the growth of it’s characters and those character arcs are easily one of the strengths of the series. It was also great to see the girls reunite at the end- it was nice to see the series end on a high note. I will miss this series a lot.

wotakoi ep. 11

Wotakoi also had it’s final episode last week. I was actually fine with the lack of “an ending” to the series. While there were some story arcs occurring at different points throughout the show,  the main focus was the day to day life of the couples. Three possible definitive endings could occur- they get married, separated, or killed. All three either are cliche or just plain depressing. The episode in itself was quite good- I really enjoyed how Narumi really acted more like a concerned girlfirend versus more of a friend. The same sequence also showed how Hirotaka still needs to mature a bit. Wotakoi has a fun charm to it- a charm that just about everyone that can relate to. Wotakoi never was a flashy show and that is what I enjoy about it. This is another series that I will miss a lot.

fmp IV ep.7

Full Metal Panic is a series which has mastered the art of the cliffhanger- and wow do they have a good one with episode 7. The overall episode was superb. We got reminded about Sousuke’s real skill as a pilot with the increased stakes in this episode. Sousuke is a top notch protagonist in my opinion. Not just for how much of a bad ass he is but for how much he grows as a character. This episode continues to remind us of that- on how his failures and fears affect him.  I especially liked an exchange that occurred near the episode where Sousuke is told that “he was just a mercenary” and he replies “No. I’m just a man.” This is not a response you would likely hear in season 1 from him. We will see if this Sousuke is able to save the day next week or not.

FLCL Progressive continued with another insane episode. Each and every week, the series feels more and more like the original series.

Yep, still on board with Darling in the Franxx. We had another great episode this week. I’m glad the Zero-Two is “not dead”, that Goro once again proved that he was best bro of the series, and we are setting up for something which should be crazy and epic. I love the mix of insanity and emotion that the series provides. It does do a great job handling the emotional moments- not something every series can do. Two more episodes left and I am anxiously awaiting what happens.

Megalo Box has set itself up for an epic final showdown. I loved the direction that the plot took and am looking forward to see Yuri and Joe fight it out on equal terms.

SteinsGate-0-Episode-11

Finally, we have Steins; Gate 0. It appears that we are definitely moving on to part 2 of the story. I am not at all convinced that the vents which transpired have put an end to the threat to our characters at all. This basically seemed too easy especially given the history of the franchise.  Maho and Okabe had a great scene this week. I have enjoyed Maho’s character arc. The fact that they explored what it’s like to be in the shadow of greatness is a nice angle. I also enjoyed how you got to see Daru doing some awesome stuff as well. Goes to show you that there is more to him than meets the eye.

Disappointments

The only thing that was disappointing was that 2 series which I have thoroughly enjoyed coming to an end. I am saddened that I won’t have new episodes of those series to look forward to.

Other Thoughts

Notably My Hero Academia was missing from the list this week. The dub is on a bit of break and I intend to stick with the dub on this series.

Golden Kamuy deserves the second season announcement that it got just for the characters alone. There are lot of great characters in that series.

Aggretsuko is the perfect series to be airing for me right now. My job is really frustrating at the moment. The series allows me to get a good laugh while watching a character go through some similar things.

Hunter x Hunter deserves a spot as one of the top shounen anime of all time.

So that is it for me this week. I am really hoping to give you some more varied content between now and next week. I do have some things in progress and finally have some time to work on it.

Also, Based off of voting and reactions to my poll concerning my 200th post, I will be sharing with you my top 25 waifu of all time. I will be hitting that milestone within a couple of weeks so look forward to that.  As always, if you have a series to recommend to me or any comments about my blog you can find me on Twitter (@Railgunfan75) or Facebook (Railgunfan75’s Geek Blog). So until next time, this is Railgunfan75 signing off! See you soon and stay geeky my friends!
