Highlights

Steins gate 0 16

Steins Gate 0 turned a corner this week and presented us with one of the best episodes in the franchise. The plot points and character decisions up to this point have started to come to a head with the events of this week  and I am glad that I have stayed on this ride. It was heartbreaking to see Mayuri realize what Okabe has gone through up to this point. It was awesome to see Daru stand up to Okabe and hopefully start to knock him out of the funk that he has been in for the entire series. And Maho also rocked with her scens as well. The feelings and emotions that have brewing for some time finally came to a head this week and I’m glad to see the plot turning a corner. I wasn’t disappointed with the story so far but am to see it progressing. Absolutely an amazing episode.

Chios-School-Road-018-20170701

On a lighter side of things, Chio’s School Road aired Episode 2 of the dub this week and my god was the episode absolutely hilarious. There is a fine line that a comedy such as this must tread to keep from being too silly and this series has done that so far. Yes, the scenarios are blatantly absurb but the way they are shown along with characters involved keep it from being stupid.   Also, Chio is an awesome main character- I really enjoy the cynic nature of her character along with her on point commentary about what is happening around her. Certainly one of the best comedies that I have seen in recent memory.

cells at work

Cells at Work delivered an insane episode. We have had a “zombie” themed episode before and now we get a disaster story. As someone who suffers from allergies, I found the episode to be both relatable and enjoyable. Some days feel like a disaster to me and the episode captured that perfectly.  The formula for Cells at Work continues to be executed quite well in my opinion. I also have to give credit with the way that they creatively present the scenarios in each episode. Awesome series!

While I am fan of Attack on Titan I am not a super fan like some out there. For me the series has it’s issues that are sometimes difficult to overlook. However, the opening episodes of the new season were actually quite good in my opinion.

Also, i finally got onto the Asobi Asobase wagon and the early are certainly entertaining. I am impressed with low they are willing to go for a laugh in the series (and I mean that in a good way). I decided to watch it after seeing all the buzz the interent was giving the series and I am not disappointed.

Full-Metal-Panic-Invisible-Victory

We finally got the final 2 dubbed episodes of Full Metal Panic Invisible Victory this week. I know many people have hated on this season of the series- but I am not one of them. There have been a lot of great moments this season and the final 2 episodes contained a lot of good ones. Yes, it stinks that we are left on a cliffhanger, but I have faith that we will see the ending eventually. Also, the ride was well worth it. There were great action sequences, a very awesome moment between Sousuke and Kaname (which was a long time coming), and a story which is now progressing its way towards a final act. I was happy with what we got especially with the final 2 episodes.

Disappointments

No disappointing episodes this week!

Other Thoughts

I am honestly still on the fence about Island… the mystery is not bad so far but it is hinting at a possible harem. Not sure how I feel about that.

Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family is always a fun little diversion series- great to see a lighter side to many of these characters.

My Hero Academia continues to be entertaining- can’t wait for next week.

I am excited to give Iron Blooded Orphans a second try. I watched the first few episodes some time ago and enjoyed it, I just never got back to watching it. I am certainly committed to watching the series this time and am excited to do so. Still a rookie when it comes to mecha anime so I’m kind of treading into a new frontier.

So what did you enjoy this week? Do you have any recommendations for anime that I should watch?  Comment below or message me on Twitter (@Railgunfan75) or Facebook (Railgunfan75’s Geek Blog). So until next time, this is Railgunfan75 signing off. See you soon and stay geeky my friends!
