Greetings! This post comes a couple week late. Sadly life got in the way of my blogging yet again- every time I start to get on a roll with blogging my employer forces me to work a lot. Anyway, I was recently nominated for the Brotherhood of the World Award and I am excited to be recognized.  Thanks to theevilbob for the nomination. Sorry it took so long to respond!

So here are the rules for the award:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the questions sent to you.
  • Nominate around 10 bloggers
  • Create your own set of questions for your nominees and display the rules.

Here are the questions that I was asked and my answers.

1. Who is your favorite shonen protagonist? And why?

This may seem like a cliche answer especially at this point but right now my favorite anime protagonist is Izuku from My Hero Academia. The values that the character represents (working hard, never giving up, loyalty to others and using an intelligent approach to solving problems) are all things that I can get behind. I also don’t find him particularly annoying to watch especially over the long term. Plus admittedly the fact that he is a hero fanboy doesn’t hurt his cause.  Izuku is a very easy character to get behind.  A close second would by Gon from Hunter x Hunter for many of the same reasons.

2.  If you could live in any anime world which would you choose? And if you wouldn’t choose why not?

That is a tough question because many of the worlds in anime are shit places for the average person lol. I guess I would honestly pic the world of My Hero Academia for a few reasons. The first one is that the world is not too dissimular from our own in a lot of ways. The second is that it would be cool to have some sort of cool power. Thought knowing my luck, I would be quirkless lol.

3. Okay, this one is very important. Are you a cat person or a dog person?

I am a dog person without a doubt. I do think cats are great but I just enjoy the company of dogs more. They are just more fun to be around. While my family had cats when I got older, my younger self had the company of dogs- I guess that had something to do with it.

4. Do you play video games? If you do what genre is your favorite?

I do play video games though not nearly as much as I used to. Sadly time is not my side when I am trying to complete a 20-30 hour game. When I do play, I don’t really have a favorite genre per say but I do have favorite series. I tend to gravitate those oldie but goodie franchises; Mario, Smash Bros, and Zelda.  The Legend of Zelda franchise is my favorite franchise by far. Breath of the Wild was the last game that I sat down and completed. I also am enjoying a lot of the anime licensed games out there. I am excited for the upcoming My Hero Academia game and the re release of Steins;Gate.

5. And finally what inspired you to write?

I always have enjoyed writing though I will admit that I am certainly not the most skilled writer out there. I always have enjoyed discussing things that i am passionate about with others whether it be comics, video games or anime. Around the time that I started the blog, I had just started to really enjoy anime and had started to attend cons on a regular basis. I had discovered something truly amazing and was amazed that more people weren’t talking about it. A friend of mine at the time had a blog of his own (which sadly he has since stopped writing for) and suggested that I give blogging a try. From there the rest is history. I found a means to meet up with fellow anime fans and to do my part to spread the word about a great form of entertainment. So I guess short answer- my inspiration was my love for anime and my desire to meet fellow people like myself.

Now on to the nominations- I will nominate:

The Aniwriter

A Nerdy Perspective

Mel in Anime Land

These people have really contributed to the blogging community, so I wanted to recognize them. There are others that I would love to nominate as well but I wanted to highlight those that I hadn’t nominated for an award before. Also, I know it’s not 10 bloggers but nothing wrong with bending the rules a bit lol.

And here are your questions:

  1. Is there an anime series/movie which helped you through a tough time?
  2. What is one thing that love about the anime community and one thing that you dislike?
  3. Do you watch subs, dubs, or both and why?
  4. Do you have a series which you love that everyone else hates?
  5. Do you enjoy anime theme songs outside of the series? If you do, do you have any favorites?

That concludes this nomination post. I am grateful for the nomination and am excited to pass this award along to my fellow bloggers. Also, I am still taking submissions for my 2018 Best Boy Classic. You can nominate your favorite male characters from anime here. We still have room for contestants so please let me know who you want to see. So until next time, this is Railgunfan75 signing of.
