Greetings! A Couple of weeks ago I was nominated for the Kore wa Watashi Blog Award. Thanks to Anime Rants for the tag and apologies for taking so long to get this out. Check out their blog if you haven’t already, they have great content! This is one of the more interesting award tags that I have seen and I have had fun coming up with responses to the prompts from the tag. It actually has been a fun way to self reflect and a cool way to describe my real world self to you all. As with all of the awards tags there are a set of guidelines and prompts to follow-those are below!

For this tag I shall not ask for a mention of the blog creator, nor do you have to display the logo if you do not want. In fact I am even keeping it optional if you want to tag the person who nominated you. By not forcing you.. the gesture of tagging and thanking them or the creator for that matter will be that much more sincere! So I will leave that up to you!

-The Purpose of this tag is very simple! Describe yourself through anime! To do this you will answer all of the following questions:

Describe a hobby or passion you have through an anime series! For example Shokugeki no Soma if you like cooking or Initial D if you like cars.

Simplify yourself to an Anime Archetype (Tsundere, Dojiko, Shota, Shounen-Protagonist etc) don’t overthink what an archetype is, go with your gut. Name a character that is also that Archetype.

Describe your looks through comparing it with anime characters, you can decide how many!

Describe your romantic bias and or sexuality through anime characters you find attractive.

Tell us about your day to day life and what anime that would fit into! You can be creative here!

Describe your hopes and dreams through an anime character.

And let the description commence!

Describe a hobby or passion you have through an anime series! : Gamers!

This one was actually quite easy for me to come up with a quick answer for. Besides being an anime/manga fan I also have been an avid gamer for years. I started back in elementary school with NES (Yes I am really dating myself with that statement). Especially in my younger days I was like the characters of the series being able to deeply discuss the latest games with a passion. I would spend countless hours gaming staying up late and killing spare time on weekends and summer breaks with gaming. Sadly I don’t have nearly as much to game anymore (between adulting and watching anime) but I still have games that I love to dump a ton of time into. Most of these are Nintendo titles. Some recent examples are Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I also love visiting classic titles from time to time as well.

Anime Archetype: The Nerdy Loner

Not sure if this is a definitive archetype or not but that is the best way to describe me. In terms of anime characters I am part Daru from Steins:Gate in terms of my geeky nature, Okabe from Steins:Gate in terms of the way he embraces his eccentricities, Kyon from Haruhi Suzumiya in terms of the way he looks at the world and Hachiman from SNAFU in terms of his self sacrificial and cynical nature. I tend to enjoy things that I can do solo such as gaming, watching anime, and reading. I say loner because while I have a few close friends and am close with my family, I end up spending quite a bit of time at home just enjoying my hobbies. I don’t hate doing stuff with other people, I just can be fine doing it solo. I do go out in the world, go to conventions, etc. but I prefer places where I can feel comfortable. I am terrible in social situations in terms of having a hard time expressing my thoughts and am awful at starting conversations (This has shown itself in my blogging as well) so going to places with people who have similar interests make it easier for me.

My Looks: Daru from Steins:Gate

This one was a relatively easy one for me to answer. Just like Daru I wear glasses and am overweight. My hair even does a similar thing to his if I get it grow too long. The one major difference is that he is not bald under the hat like I would be. Other than that I’m a pretty average guy. Not too tall or short and really don’t have any distinguishable features. I would get lost in a crowd quite easily if you were looking for me. I wish I had something more exciting for you all but sadly I don’t.

Sexuality: Straight

Well I am a straight male so I find myself attracted to women. Of course with anime there are ton of great characters to crush on but some of my fy favorites which would best describe the type of women that I would be attracted to would be. Kurisu from Steins:Gate, Hifumi from New Game, Morioka from MMO Junkie and Narumi from Wotakoi.

Day to Day Life: Mix of different shows

My life would make a really boring anime actually. I don’t think it would even make a fun slice of life story lol. I work 45-50 hours a week then basically go home and play video games and watch anime most of the time. So I guess you say that my life has aspects of shows like Wotakoi, MMO Junkie and Gamers (Minus the romance) where my end goal is to get through what I have to do so I can spend my spare time enjoying the things that I want to do.

Hopes and Dreams: Deku from My Hero Academia

This is probably the toughest of the questions to answer for me as I am in the stage of my life where where I don’t think about as much about dreams as I used to, it’s more about making it from day to day. I guess if I had to pick a character though that personified my goals it would be Deku from My Hero Academia. Obviously, I can’t be a superhero or save people- I certainly don’t have the talents for that and superpowers don’t exist. But Deku’s desire to still be the best person he can be despite not having any real talent at the beginning of the story really hits home for me. I try my best to be good to people and maybe contribute something positive to the world but don’t have any real talents that can lead me to that goal. There are plenty of times that I wish I could do more and get frustrated because I can’t. Even after he gets his power he still has to work to make use of it. His journey is one of struggle and self improvement and I can get behind that idea.

And I think that concludes this challenge. Wow, that was both quite fun and quite difficult at the same time. I liked that the prompts really get you to self reflect. It is always a good idea to do that every once in a while. I tried my best to be honest even if it doesn’t paint me in the best image. Hopefully this doesn’t make me look like a terrible human being lol. It was cool to share this with you all. Now onto the nominations!

I’m looking forward to what to say. If you have already been nominated or don’t want to do the prompts, I totally understand.

And that is all I have for now. So until next time, this is railgunfan75 signing off. Stay safe, stay respectful, and stay geeky my friends!
